The journey (up or down river) starts and ends in the Laotian city of Pakse – It halts by in Champassak, where a visit of the ruins of the Khmer temple Vat Phou is foreseen. Another halt is organized in a village located near the mysterious temple Oum Moung… The last one is forecast just before the 4000 Islands. Where the Mekong goes wild with amazing strength

You will visit the site of 4000 islands and namely Don Khone, before taking back the way to Pakse by coach, where the program ends – This cruise is operational in either ways, always with one way by boat and the other by road.

2 overnights are spent on board, in a comfortable cabin, and the program includes full board – We organize on request air transportation to Pakse or via Ubon Rachatani, with pre-night in Champassak

PROGRAM

Day 1 Pakse – Champassak (Departures on fixed dates – Consult us)

Meeting at 08h30 at the departure point of the cruise in Sinouk Coffee house, in downtown Pakse – Embark onboard a pirogue for sailing down Mekong river for about 2 hours towards Champassak – Arrival in Champassak and embark onboard the cruise vessel – Check-in and take possession of your cabin

Afternoon:

Visit the ruins of the historical site of Vat Phou Khmer Temple, dating back from 10^th century. Visit the small museum and enjoy enough time to shot all pictures you wish – Back on board

Dinner included and served onboard

Overnight on ‘Vat Phou’ vessel – Standard cabin

Day 2 Champassak - Ban Houay Thamo – Oum Moung – Don Khong

Meals: B / L / D

Breakfast served on board

Morning:

Departure of the cruise river down towards the village of Ban Houay Thamo. Disembark to visit the village and the temple – Back on board to resume navigation

Lunch included and served onboard

Afternoon:

Continue the navigation with a halt near to the 4000 islands in the village of Ban Dua Tae, where the way of living has not changed for centuries. Navigation ends at the northern side of Don Khong Island

Overnight on ‘Vat Phou’ vessel – Standard cabin

Day 3 Don Khong – Don Khone – Khone Pha Pheng - Pakse

Breakfast served on board

Morning:

Resume navigation up to the village of Ban Dong Veuthong, where you will embark on a small boat to navigate among the 4000 Islands towards Don Khone – Visit the old French railway from the time of the colony and pass to Don Det

Lunch included and served in a local restaurant

Afternoon:

End of the navigation and discovery the site of Khon Pha Pheng, called the ‘East Niagara’… Waterfalls of this site are very near to Cambodian border and really impressive – Embark on a coach for the journey back to Pakse by road – Arrival in Pakse by end afternoon (One post-night can be organized in Pakse or a transfer to Thailand and Ubon Rachatani airport with a flight to Bangkok – All these additional services can be added on request – Consult us)
