Most of Luang Prabang visitors never visit the region along the Mekong river in Northern Laos… Unless they book a 2-day cruise down river from Thailand to Luang Prabang…

This little joining-up tour is a perfect ‘missing link’ for them… One day by scenic road up to Pakbeng, punctuated by visits as Kacham Waterfall, Sayaboury, Hongsa and the very typical village of Muang Ngeun, populated by Thai Leu ethnic minority… You will admire superb landscapes before arriving at the lodge for dinner and overnight…

Luangsay Lodge, towers over the Mekong River and superb unspoiled environment.

During day 2, you will navigate down river, back to Luang Prabang, on a traditional wooden boat… Landscapes all along the waterway are just breathtaking. Here again, a halt in a local village will bring you close charming Laotian villagers… Further down you will lastly halt at the impressive Pak Ou Cave, overlooking the region and sheltering plenty of old Buddha statues. Arrival back on Luang Prabang will be end afternoon

Day 1 Luang Prabang Pakbeng (Departure on fixed dates – consult us)

Morning:

A good coffee is awaiting you at the meeting point around 8.30AM – Departure of your minivan with driver and guide at 9AM… A first halt is forecast at the scenic Kacham Waterfall, settled in lush nature and frequented by locals… You will continue the road through superb landscapes, before arriving in Sayaboury… This place is an important place for wild elephants

Lunch included and served in a local restaurant

Afternoon:

Passing y lush superb landscapes in a region populated by Hmong and Phai ethnic minorities, you will pass by Honsa, before arriving in Muang Ngeun… This village home of the Thai Leu ethnic minority host traditional wooden houses… Another stop is made in Ban Bi Mi, where people use to weave cotton… Arrival at the lodge is forecast by end afternoon – Check-in, time to relax and admire sunset on Mekong River

Dinner included and served on the outdoor terrace of the lodge

Day 2 Pakbeng Luang Prabang

Morning:

Embark on the Luang Say Cruise for a river journey down to Luang Prabang. Navigation along the Mekong is a pure moment of happiness as landscapes are amazingly beautiful and completely untouched… A first halt is planned on the sandy shore of a village called Baw, where you will see the process of homemade rice alcohol…

Lunch served on board

Afternoon:

Continue the navigation down river with a halt at Pak Ou Cave, towering over the whole region and offering superb panoramic views on Mekong River… The cave shelters numerous Buddha statues and has a very mystical atmosphere – You will continue sailing down a little stretch before arriving in Luang Prabang Jetty by end afternoon - End of the cruise
