  Chiangsaen would have been, before it was sacked, a counter along the Mekong, which was an important water way to carrying goods from China to South East Asia… The walls of the city let imagine its trade function as well as its importance in the whole region. Numerous ruins have been excavated.

   

  About 15 kilometers upriver, is the geographical point of the Golden Triangle. Here meet 3 countries, Thailand, Lao and Myanmar… In this place called Sobruak, besides the mighty Mekong River, one can visit the impressive Ho Fin (Hall of Opium).

   

  This interactive and western look like museum is a must… Those visiting the region ought to stop and visit it. It tells us history of opium in the region as well as the role European have had in the Boxer War and the doomsday of Chinese Empire.

  -           Visit Sobruak, le balcony overlooking Mékong River and the amazing Ho Fin

  -           Sail the Mekong down in motorized pirogue towards Chiangsaen

  -           Visit the ruins de Chiangsaen (walls and old temples)

  11h30 or 16h30 (Approximately) End of the tour and transfer back to your hotel
