This program stamped (following the eco movement of CO2 limited release in the atmosphere) is very much moving for it clearly shows how sea is moving forward on land and the disappearing of coastline, with all consequences this implies for its inhabitants
If tourism industry has plaid a contributing role for many countries across the globe to develop their economy, it has also contributed on a significant way to increase transportation (Air, road, sea) and of course atmospheric pollution… NSTRAVEL wants to pay a role, humble indeed but responsible, by promoting programs which are ‘cleaner’ and having a positive impact on local affected communities
Our tours implicate:
- As much as possible, the use of public transport
- As much as possible, the use of local manpower
- Use of local infrastructure and products (hotels, restaurants, communities, food, etc.)
Nobody really knows the origin of Ban Khun Samud Jeen, located next to Bangkok. But one assumes that at the time of Ayutthaya, Chinese traders who navigated along the coastline used to stop here… Numerous Chinese ceramics were found in the soil of this village…
The whole coastline was protected by a mangrove, that disappeared due to constructions, agriculture and other human activities. In 1977, a heavy storm initiated the erosion process of the coastline that has never ceased since. Today, the village that once stood on land, has vanished. Only the electric pillars from that time barely emerge from the sea level… Ultimate testimonies of what was submerged… The Buddhist temple is isolated like an island and is surrounded by a frail and pathetic protection wall.
This program is aimed to stay in the village with local villagers, to be aware of what they do to protect them against waters and to participate to a survival activity, which is planting new plots of mangrove
